Our Origin Story

“What if we just redirected what we have to those who have nothing right now?”

FACO volunteers sharing food parcels with a family in the community

FACO wasn’t born in a boardroom; it was born out of necessity and compassion during the challenging times of 2020. A group of university students in Pretoria witnessed the immediate, devastating impact of the global crisis on their neighbours, particularly the single mothers in the Sunnyside area.

Realising that institutional help might arrive too late, these students made a radical, grace-filled decision. They pooled their own limited resources, redirecting personal funds to purchase essential groceries and create modest food parcels.

What started as a small, localised act of solidarity quickly revealed a profound need and a powerful model for community relief. That initial spark of grassroots empathy ignited what would become the FA Charity Organisation — a formalised, professional entity dedicated to structured relief and long-term empowerment, yet still deeply rooted in that original spirit of passionate, neighbourly love.
